Awardee agreements for the CalHealthCares loan repayment program’s fifth cohort are being finalized. Awardees include 264 physicians and 36 dentists receiving an anticipated total of $73.38 million in loan repayment grants.

Unique to this cohort are two dentists awarded Practice Support Grants who are working to expand access to care through the expansion of a current practice, relocation of a current practice or establishment of a new practice in a specified high-need target county within California. This grant is a secondary opportunity that is offered through the CalHealthCares program for dentists only as a 10-year service obligation.

As of March 2024, CalHealthCares has issued over $109 million in loan repayment assistance to participating awardees for Cohorts one through four.
