Physicians for a Healthy California (PHC) has partnered with the Alzheimer's Association and the UCSF Dementia Care Aware project on a free webinar— Inequities in Dementia Detection and Cognitive Health Assessments: Primary Care Dementia Screening in Diverse Older Adult Populations . The one-hour webinar will be December 15, 2022, at 12 p.m. Those who live to be 65 or older have a one in six chance of developing Alzheimer’s and a one in five chance of developing any type of dementia. The number of Californians aged 65 and older living with Alzheimer’s disease is expected to more than double by 2040. A critical step in meeting the needs of this growing population is early recognition of cognitive decline. In this webinar , participants will learn about the impact of Alzheimer’s in diverse communities disproportionately affected by the disease and significantly impacted by social determinants of health; how to do screening for dementia in diverse patient populations; and how to help patients optimize physical and cognitive health and support them and their families with resources.
